Anal
soft rays: 8 - 9. Dark spots on dorsal fin do not form a continuous band across rays; anal fin of males with small spots, without larger blotches on the anterior portion. Fourth or fifth ray of pectoral fin longest, not reaching or just reaching to pelvic-fin origin. Third fin ray of pelvic fin longest, reaching area between anal opening and anal fin origin or reaching anal fin origin (Ref. 27672).
Most specimens examined were collected in small rivers or creeks with slow to moderate water current and mud, sand, and loose stones on the bottom (Ref. 27672).
