Short description

Differs from other congeners in Europe by having the following characters: scale rows between anus and anal origin 3-4; scales on lateral line 36-38 + 2-3; scale rows between lateral line and pelvic origin 3½ -4; breast scaled between pectorals; scales around caudal peduncle 16; distance between anus and anal origin smaller than eye diameter; and eye diameter 1.0-1.3 times in interorbital distance (Ref. 59043).
Usually found on sand bottom (Ref. 59043).
