Remark: | Observed while snorkling. Time: local. Positon derived from Admiralty chart #3053, Bahia La Paz to Magdalena 1:400 000. Batch printed in UK 99/04/22. We chartered a small airplane and it spotted 3 sharks. 1: approx 2-3 meters long / 1: 4 meters / 1: approx 5 meter. The small and the large one were not very "cooperative" and swam away just before we entered the water. The 4 meter, however, "allowed" us to snorkel with it for a long period or, rather, we found out very quickly that quite some time had passed since evolution "forced" humans out of the sea. It was more or less impossible to swim with the whale shark for a longer period due to severe fatigue. The shark was not speeding but finning very slow and gracefully. The viz was not very good, approx 4 - 6 m due to plancton which made UW-photograpy difficult.(pic will be uploaded soon) "Buddies": Per "Pelle" EDBERG / John GULLIVER / Erik FRANKENBERG and others | ||||
