Freshwater; benthopelagic; pH range: 6.5 - 7.5; dH range: 8 - 10; non-migratory. Tropical; 21°C - 22°C (Ref. 13371), preferred ?
Africa: Senegal, Gambia, Burkina Faso (Upper Volta), Mali, and Niger. Extends southward over the Accra plains in southeastern Ghana and southwestern Togo.

Max length : 3.5 cm TL male/unsexed; (Ref. 27139)
Occurs in temporary pools and swamps in the savanna (Ref. 3788). Bottom spawner, 3-4 months incubation. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
