Ecology
Marine; bathypelagic; oceanodromous (Ref. 51243); depth range 0 - 2000 m (Ref. 58018). Deep-water, preferred ?; 23°S - 46°S
Circumglobal in the southern hemisphere in the region of the Subtropical Convergence but with extensions into lower latitudes in eastern boundary currents. In the Southern Ocean, known from 45°10'S, 69°12'E (Ref. 5182). East coast of America between 31°S and 44°S (Ref. 47377).

High-oceanic, mesopelagic (Ref. 4479, 75154). Found between 100-700 m at night. Sexually mature from about 8.0 cm (Ref. 4479).
