Etymology: Phenacogaster: Greek, phenax, -akos = deceptive + Greek, gaster = stomach (Ref. 45335); simulatus: Name from Latin 'simulo' similaridade em aparência; and 'atus' tendo a natureza de; em alusão à semelhança com a espécie P. megalostictus.
