Etymology: Placidochromis: Latin, placidus = of peaceful or tranquile appearance + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); argyrogaster: From the Greek "arguros" = silver and "gaster" = belly, referring to the silvery belly in preserved specimens (Ref. 55898).
