Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 10-11; Rayons mous anaux: 19 - 21. Jaws relatively large, narrow, set with a single row of conical teeth; premaxilla with a double curve, forming an "S". Lateral line almost non-existent; predorsal line broadly naked; postorbitals lacking.
