Has dark spot on dorsal fin; black spots on caudal fin not outlined with white; dark spot at caudal-fin base (Ref. 12693).
Occurs near the surface in shallow marshes, swamps and inundated fields (Ref. 12693). Inhabits swamps with clear water (Ref. 43281). Usually found in shallow layers of open water above beds of fine-leaved aquatic macrophytes and submerged grasses (Ref. 12693). Feeds on zooplankton and some insects. Probably too small to be marketed. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade (Ref. 12693)
