Etymology: Apolemichthys: Greek, apolemos, -os,-on = quiet, peaceful + Greek, ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335).   More on author: Smith.

Issue
This species is an hybrid of Apolemichthys trimaculatus X Apolemichthys xanthurus according to Heemstra & Heemstra (2004: Ref. 58304). The species page will be removed for the next update.

Western Indian Ocean: Seychelles and Maldives. Randall and Anderson (Ref. 11303) note that this species might be a hybrid of Apolemichthys trimaculatus and Apolemichthys xanthurus but that more specimens are needed for confirmation.
