Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 17 - 20. Lateral line undeveloped externally, only the 1st 2 or 3 scales perforated; snout slightly projecting; gill rakers well developed; caudal peduncle narrow and long, its depth less than eye diameter; short luminous caudal glands only in males (Ref. 559).
