This species is characterized by the striae on the ventral portion of the opercle; no longitudinal ridge on the opercle; 26 dorsal fin rays; 9-10 pectoral fin rays; 14 trunk rings; 43 tail rings; 5.5 subdorsal rings; dorsal fin origin on 1st tail ring; snout length 2.8 in head length, its depth 2.2 in snout length (Ref. 75989).
Collected among Sargassum on rocky substrate at 2 m (Ref. 75989).
