Etymology: Iksookimia: A Korean name;  yongdokensis: Named after Yong-dok-gun, the type locality.

Usually in clear, slow moving shallow water over sand or small pebbles, or stagnant areas along upper and middle river courses. The species consumes a wide variety of food, including most aquatic algae, small crustaceans and aquatic insect larvae. The spawning season is supposed to be in May.
