Description: Characterized by mainly greyish purple except cheek and breast which is bright blue; forehead region yellowish brown; caudal peduncle and adjacent body below posterior half of dorsal fin, brilliant yellowish orange; dusky purplish or bluish grey fins except dorsal and ventral margins of caudal fin and sometimes inner portion of pelvic fins yellow-orange; dorsal rays XI-XIII,12-13; anal rays II,14; pectoral rays 16; gill rakers on first brachial arch 7-8+18-19, total rakers 25-27; tubed lateral-line scales 16; vertical scale rows 28; scales above lateral line to base of middle dorsal spines 2.5; scales below lateral line to anus 9.5; circumpeduncular scales 12; vertebrae 26 (Ref. 90102).
