Definition of Term

beachrock
(english) Sloped sediment shoreline consisting of exposed formations of cemented beach materials, usually sand; formerly covered by unconsolidated materials in the intertidal zone; forms laterally extensive lines of rock dipping seaward at the slope of the beach; may occur on reef top away from current shoreline where it forms a reef top supratidal feature. (french) Rivage du sédiment incliné qui consiste en formations exposé des matières de la plage cimentées, habituellement du sable; autrefois couverts par les matières non consolidé dans la zone intertidale; forme des lignes latérales étendues de roc qui descend vers la mer à partir de la pente de plage; peut se produire sur le sommet du récif loin de rivage courant où il forme un trait supratidal du sommet du récif.
