Symptoms: | High mucus production leads to coat on skin, pale gills with haemorrhages and increased secretion, slack activity, at surface, gasping air. | |
Treatments: | Trypaflavine bath 1 g/100 l water for 2 to 12 hours. Trypaflavine bath 1 g/100 l water for 2 to 12 hours. Copper sulfate at least 0.20 ppm of copper ions for at least 8 to 10 days. Quinine hydrochloride can also be used but not as good as copper sulfate. | |
Prophylaxis: | Quarantine. | |
Remarks: | For proper treatment, a knowledge of their life cycle is essential. Oodinium pillularis is the counterpart in freshwater (Ref. 41806). | |
