Avoid overcrowding. Avoid getting disease through careful screening and quarantine of new stock and sterilization of ponds and equipment. |
Eimeria is a genus with many, often poorly described species all of which cause Coccidiosis. Very difficult to erradicate once established. May have a two-host life-cycle. Related Calyptospora funduli (parasite of killifish) requires passage through stomach of grass shrimp Palemonetes to release infective sporozoites (see Möller and Anders 1983). |
