Differs from Rhodeus amarus in having terminal mouth (vs. sub-inferior) and rostral cap covering upper part of upper lip (vs. upper lip covered completely or more than half) (Ref. 59043).
Occurs in large to medium sized rivers and still waters such as ponds, lakes, canals, and backwaters (Ref. 59043).
