Vertebrae: 41. This species is characterized by the following characters: head and predorsal length short, 24.2 and 31.1% SL, respectively; ventral fins long, 27.2% SL; scale band on cheeks with 2 rows of scales on lower cheek; upper preopercular pore absent, outer pseudoclasper small, anterior inner pseudoclasper ridge-like, bent backwards, anteriorly connected to outer pseudoclasper; posterior inner pseudoclasper much larger than the anterior one; otolith with separated colliculi (Ref. 55786).
This species is known from a single male specimen collected over sand and rock covered with calcareous algae and not on coral reefs (Ref. 55786).
