Etymology: Rhynchocypris: Greek, rhingchos = snout + Greek, kypris = other name for Aphrodite, proceeding from Kypris (Cyprus) Greek, kyprinos = carp (Ref. 45335).
Issue
Possibly in genus Lagowskiella after Hovwes (1985). Remains to be confirmed. In Phoxinus in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. May 2011: Ref. 86870).
