Inhabits sandy areas of lagoon and seaward reefs (Ref. 1602). Also in sheltered rocky reef habitats in few meters depth, usually in small loose groups (Ref. 48636). Occurs in rubble and algal turfs (Ref. 90102). Feeds on small benthic invertebrates (Ref. 89972).
