Definition of Term

rhomboid
(english) Wedge-shaped or diamond-shaped; refers to a caudal fin shape in which the middle rays are longest and the upper and lower portions of the terminal border of the fin are more or less straight; essentially the opposite of forked. An uncommon fin shape most often found in the croakers and flatfishes. (See also: caudal fin, forked, rounded)
rhomboide
(french) En forme de cale ou en forme de diamant ; se réfère à une forme de la nageoire caudale quand les rayons centraux sont plus longs et les portions supérieures et inférieures du bord terminal de la nageoire sont plus ou moins droites ; antonyme de bifurqué. rombóide
(portuguese) Em forma de diamante, refere-se à forma da barbatana caudal em que os raios centrais são maiores do que os das extremidades e a margem é mais ou menos direita. Esta forma incomum encontra-se por exemplo nos peixes planos (sôlhas, linguados etc.). (See also: caudal fin, forked, rounded)
