Definition of Term

total allowable catch
(english) Fishery management regime in which fisher can buy in advance a portion (quota) of the total allowed catch of a certain species for a fishing season; they are then allowed to catch that amount or to trade it to other fishers. The TAC is set by a government in an effort to manage the resource. (See also: quota, fishery)
