Definition of Term

CITES
(english) Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora. An international agreement which aims to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild fauna and flora does not threaten the survival of species. Appendix II of CITES includes "species not necessarily threatened with extinction, but in which trade must be controlled in order to avoid utilisation incompatible with their survival".
