 Max. size:  22 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  Asia: China.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 18-22. Covered by middle sized scale. Green gray in the back, silver white in the side and stomach (Ref. 33303).
 Biology:  Utilized for food (Ref. 89718).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Known from Guangdong Province (Ref. 33299). Also from Jiulong Jiang, Zhujiang (=Pearl River) (Ref. 33784). Type locality, Huping, Tungting Lake, Hunan Province (Ref. 33021). Known as "hsien-tsan" at Tungting Lake (Ref. 35840). Known from Sichuang Province:( Duojiang, Hechuan, Luzhou); Beipei of Chongqing; Hunan Province:Dongting Lake; and Yichang of Hubei Province; Hukou of Jiangxi Province(Ref.33784)
