 Family:  Triacanthidae (Triplespines)
 Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 15 m
 Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: known only from Australia (including northwestern Australia) and Indonesia.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 22-24; Anal soft rays: 18-19. Spiny dorsal-fin membrane very dark between second spine and base of first spine, and often between second and third spines (Ref 9804).
 Biology:  Inhabits sandy and muddy flats in coastal areas. Feeds on benthic invertebrates.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
