 Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Tetraodontinae
 Max. size:  10 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 20 - 100 m
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Indonesia and northwestern Australia (Ref. 5978); Papua New Guinea (Ref. 6771); also reported from Japan and New Caledonia (Ref. 33352).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found in deep sandy coastal slopes, usually at depths of 20 meters or more (Ref. 48637).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  venomous
