 Family:  Paralepididae (Barracudinas)
 Max. size:  23 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathypelagic; depth range - 532 m
 Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Kyushu-Palau Ridge to the Indo-Australian Archipelago (Ref. 5978) and off the Hawaiian Islands. Reported to occur in the Western Atlantic.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 32-34. 5 blotches in advance of dorsal fin; 7 blotches in advance of the anal fin (Ref. 13608).
 Biology:  Mesopelagic (Ref. 58302, 75154).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
