 Family:  Synodontidae (Lizardfishes), subfamily: Harpadontinae
 Max. size:  25 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 18 - 410 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania to Senegal; Gabon to Angola, including Ascension Island. Western Atlantic: North Carolina, USA to Santa Catarina, Brazil (Ref. 57756), including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found on the outer continental shelf (Ref. 4472).
