 Family:  Peristediidae (Armored searobins or armored gurnards)
 Max. size:  26.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 259 - 860 m
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: from East China Sea, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Andaman Sea, Vanuatu and Fiji.
 Diagnosis:  This species is distinguished by its equilateral-triangular rostral projections; 4 (rarely 5) lip and 4 chin barbels and lacking anteriorly directed spines on posterior bony plates of upper lateral row (Ref. 93228).
 Biology:
