 Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Acheilognathinae
 Max. size:  9.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  Europe: Aegean Sea from Vardar south to Pinios drainages.
 Diagnosis:  Differs from Rhodeus amarus in having terminal mouth (vs. sub-inferior) and rostral cap covering upper part of upper lip (vs. upper lip covered completely or more than half) (Ref. 59043).
 Biology:  Occurs in large to medium sized rivers and still waters such as ponds, lakes, canals, and backwaters (Ref. 59043).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
