Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 24-24; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 14-14. This species differs from other pseudochromids in having the following set of characters: D III,24; A III,14; pelvic-fin rays I,5; anterior tip of palatine tooth patch directed medially behind posterolateral arm of vomerine tooth patch; upper part of body with dark (dark grey to black in life) longitudinal stripe, extending horizontally to or towards caudal-fin base; scales in lateral series 41-45; circumpeduncular scales 22-23 (Ref. 89094).
Description: Characterized by having a pair of yellow stripes on base of tail extending to rear margin of caudal fin; anterior lateral line scales 32-35; predorsal scales 21; depth of body 28.0 % of SL (Ref. 90102). |
Occurs in rubble habitats in low rocky outcrops or with low coral heads. Also photographed at 5 m depth in an open area with sand and some isolated corals and rocks (Ref. 89094). Solitary (Ref 90102). |
