 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 16-17; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species differs from its congeners in having scales on the cheek and operculum, and with the first dorsal fin of males shaped like a horse’s mane (Ref. 84007).
 Biology:  Collected from mudflats (Ref. 84007).
