 Family:  Pinguipedidae (Sandperches)
 Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range - 12 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known only from Maldives.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found on rubble bottoms near reefs (Ref. 9710). Feeds on small invertebrates and fishes (Ref. 9710). There is an indication that the species is a protogynous hermaphrodite.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
