 Family:  Loricariidae (Armored catfishes), subfamily: Ancistrinae
 Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  South America: Cauca and Magdalena River basins in Colombia.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Recorded maximum length and weight of a captive individual from the middle course of Magdalena River in Colombia, 45 cm SL and 1.45 kg, respectively (A.F. Echeverri (pers.comm. 04/09).
 IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
