 Family:  Nototheniidae (Cod icefishes)
 Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 0 m
 Distribution:  Southern Ocean: Kerguelen and Heard Islands.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 33-36; Anal soft rays: 30-34. Uniformly brownish but with darker markings or uniformly black. Prominent acoustico-lateralis channel on the head, absence of connecting orbital branches of the ethmoid, short frontal and narrow parasphenoid (Ref. 11892).
 Biology:  Spawn once a year (Ref. 1071).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
