 Family:  Muraenidae (Moray eels), subfamily: Muraeninae
 Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 10 - 76 m
 Distribution:  Western Atlantic: New England to Florida in USA and Gulf of Mexico. Yucatan and Venezuela (Ref. 26938).
 Diagnosis:  Reticulated pattern of light brown blotches on dark brown background (Ref. 26938).
 Biology:  Known only from moderate depths along outer continental shelf.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
