 Family:  Lophiidae (Goosefishes)
 Max. size:  100 cm SL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 21 years
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 300 - 1013 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: British Isles to Senegal, including the Mediterranean.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found from shallow, inshore waters to 650 m depth. Depth range from 300-1013 m in the eastern Ionian Sea (Ref. 56504). Feeds on nekton, mainly fishes (4712).
 IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
