 Family:  Moridae (Morid cods)
 Max. size:  44 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic; depth range 127 - 1880 m
 Distribution:  North Atlantic: Bay of Biscay, along the western slopes of the British Isles, along the Iceland-Faroe Ridge of Iceland, Greenland, Davis Straits, Northern Labrador and the Grand Banks of Labrador. Rare in the western Atlantic.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0. Eyes relatively large; posterior nostril immediately anterior to eye. Lateral line system on head with pit organs but no pores. Pyloric caeca 8 to 13.
 Biology:  Epibenthic (Ref. 58426). Feeds mainly on crustaceans but also on polychaetes. Caught singly but also in aggregations of more than 100 individuals (Ref. 1371).
 IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
