 Family:  Labridae (Wrasses), subfamily: Xyrichtyinae
 Max. size:  16.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 6 - 15 m
 Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Moluccas, Samoa, Marshall and Hawaiian islands.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 12-12
 Biology:  Found on a large sand patch at depth of 8 to 9 m (Ref. 37816). Benthopelagic (Ref. 58302). Dives into sand to sleep safely at night or to hide when alarmed (Ref. 90102).
