 Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Leuciscinae
 Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  North America: Missouri, Arkansas, Red, Brazos, and Colorado River drainages from Montana and North Dakota south to New Mexico and Texas, USA; Mississippi River from mouth of Missouri River to Tennessee, USA. Introduced in Pecos River in New Mexico, USA.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Occurs usually in shallow sandy runs and pools of creeks and small to large rivers (Ref. 86798). Oviparous, probably open substratum spawners like congeners (Ref. 205).

 Threat to humans:  harmless
