 Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
 Max. size:  18.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathypelagic; depth range 0 - 340 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: equatorial, south of Hawaii.
 Diagnosis:  A single, simple-branched barbel arising from the stem. The branch length is equal to or greater than the distal barbel. Heavily pigmented stem except for the part just proximal to terminal bulb; dorsal bulb pigmented except for the medial streak or fork. The terminal filaments extend well beyond tip of the bulb (Ref. 34246).
