 Family:  Etmopteridae (Lantern sharks)
 Max. size:  67 cm TL (male/unsexed); 73 cm TL (female)
 Environment:  benthopelagic; depth range 163 - 1000 m
 Distribution:  Atlantic, Indian Ocean and Western Pacific. In the western Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico to Argentina (Ref. 57911).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). Feeds on small sharks, squids and myctophids.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
