 Family:  Sparidae (Porgies)
 Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Persian Gulf and Northern Indian coast.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabits rocky shallow coastal waters. Feeds on algae and small invertebrates (Ref. 68964). Utilized fresh but not sold extensively.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
