 Family:  Carangidae (Jacks and pompanos), subfamily: Caranginae
 Max. size:  25 cm FL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range - 0 m
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: South China Sea to the Mariana Islands. Reported occurrence in southern Africa could not be confirmed (Ref. 3197).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 30-36; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 25-30
 Biology:  Adults are found in the sublittoral zone and may enter semi-enclosed sea areas (Ref. 11230). In Guam, it is encountered in large numbers around fish aggregating devices, buoys anchored offshore to attract pelagic game fishes.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
