 Family:  Dactyloscopidae (Sand stargazers)
 Max. size:  5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 2 - 9 m
 Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: Endemic to the Galapagos Islands.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Known from tide pools and shallow coastal regions. Inhabits black volcanic sand and coarse, white coral sand, where it often occurs together with (Ref. 28023). Platygillellus rubellulus (Ref. 28023).
 IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (D2) (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
