 Family:  Percophidae (Duckbills), subfamily: Bembropinae
 Max. size:  21 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 335 - 490 m
 Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Japan and Hawaii. Recently reported from the Chesterfield Islands (Ref. 11897).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal soft rays: 26-26. Maxilla without tentacle. Spinous dorsal fin never jet black (Ref 12932).
 Biology:  Benthic on sand and rock (Ref. 58302).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
