 Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 500.0 g
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 1 - 750 m
 Distribution:  Southern Ocean: endemic to the Kerguelen-Heard Plateau, Antarctica.
 Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 54-58
 Biology:  Adults are found from near shore to farther than 750 m. Feed mainly on fishes and occasionally on algae.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
