 Family:  Rajidae (Skates), subfamily: Rajinae
 Max. size: 
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 15 - 120 m, oceanodromous
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan, Sea of Okhotsk and the East China Sea.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Oviparous. Distinct pairing with embrace. Young may tend to follow large objects, such as their mother (Ref. 205). Eggs are oblong capsules with stiff pointed horns at the corners deposited in sandy or muddy flats (Ref. 205). Egg capsules are 14.5-16.0 cm long and 7.0-7.5 cm wide (Ref. 41249, 41253, 41298).
