This species is distinguished and differs from B. gillii by its short lateral line, snout to end of lateral line 39.5% SL (vs. 64-80% SL) and ending below dorsal fin ray number 10 (vs. 47-69) and above vertebra number 12 (vs. 31-43); scales in midline of body 175 (vs. 130-150); distance between base of pelvic fins and anal fin origin 34.5% SL (vs. 24.0-32.5% SL); two median basibranchial tooth patches, the anterior long and narrow (vs. short and broad); scale rows between origin of dorsal fin and lateral line 11 (vs. 7-8); sagitta thick, 23% its length (vs. 12-16% its height (Ref. 86400). |
